Volunteering at Gut Karlshöhe

04.07.2019

We are aware of our broader responsibility as a company, which is why giving back and lending a helping hand for a good cause are matters of course for the cadooz team. As an integral part of our social efforts, we support various projects and institutions in and around Hamburg several times a year with day-long volunteer events.

Gut Karlshöhe
In collaboration with the volunteer agency tatkräftig, which helps companies get involved in various projects, 12 volunteer cadoozies spent a day at Gut Karlshöhe in mid-May. The farm, which sees itself as Hamburg's green oasis for sustainable living, primarily caters to children, but also to adults, as a place for learning and adventures. They show, for example, how to “simply live well” when managing natural resources, while giving people the opportunity to spend quality time in nature.

A rather different working day
The day started with a tour around the farm, where our volunteers could marvel at all kinds of flora and fauna. Then it was straight to work. The cadoozies were split into three groups and given the alternating tasks of:

  • creating and expanding a drainage ditch in the woods;
  • aerating the soil around orchard trees by removing turf; and
  • loading compost onto a trailer and spreading it around the fruit trees

The physically challenging work was very rewarding for all. Even though our volunteer helpers spent the next few days with aching muscles as a reminder of their efforts, they were very proud of the result. For the farm, the support they provided was also a great help, and everyone involved was delighted by the welcome change of scenery from everyday office life. In particular, however, they were left with the good feeling of having helped.

We're delighted that our cadooz team had so much fun helping out on Gut Karlshöhe and in many other initiatives where we lend a helping hand for a good cause. Many thanks to everyone involved for their great efforts!
